HIGH SCHOOL EQUIVALENCY PROGRAM INFORMATION:

Carthage AEL offers free High School Equivalency preparation classes.

Classes are located at 609 River Street, Carthage MO 64836

Step 1

To get started in our program, you must complete an orientation. You must attend both sessions of orientation without being late or leaving early. Orientations will be offered in August, September, October, January, February and March. Call today to enroll in the next orientation at 417-359-7095.

Step 2

After you have completed an orientation, you will be assigned a class time. We will complete a student progress plan for you and work will be assigned based on your pre-tests. Once you are enrolled you are encouraged to attend every class possible and to work at home on homework. If you cannot make it to class you must call or email your instructor. If you do not complete 12 hours of class time in the first 3 weeks of class you will be dropped from the class and may start again in the next orientation.

Day and evening classes are available:

Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday 1:00-3:00pm

Tuesday and Thursday 6:00-8:00pm

Step 3

After you have worked in the class approximately 40 hours you will be post-tested in your lowest area. This will let us know if you are progressing toward your goals! When you have progressed and passed a HiSET practice test you will then be ready to sign up for the HiSET test. The HiSET exam is a computer based test. You can find out information on how to register, the testing schedule, and testing locations at the hiset website www.hiSET.ets.org.

Step 4

If you would like to transition to college we can help you research colleges, fill out FAFSA forms, and prepare for entrance exams. The following scholarships are available for HiSET recipients.
